Adult Swimming Lessons: Made to Order

Our adult swimming lessons are completely customizable, whether you want to just learn how to swim, or learn how to take your aquatic fitness to a whole new level, we can help you achieve your goals.

Our adult swimming lessons follow the same general American Red Cross Learn-To-Swim program as our child swim lessons, with 6 levels of skill progressions. (For a detailed explanation of each "Learn-to-Swim" level, click here.)

Customizable and Unique

Adults tend to have more swimming experience and have a clearer understanding of what they want, which is why every adult swimming lesson is completely customizable. So whether you are learning how to swim from scratch or already a seasoned swimmer, we can help you achieve your aquatic fitness goals with a customized program designed just for you.

Here are a few illustrations of where someone might be and how we would help them:

  • The Beginner: You never learned how to swim as a child and now you can barely float.

Our Suggestion: For this situation, we would suggest working through the ARC Learn-to-Swim program beginning in levels 1, 2 or 3.

  • The Novice: You are comfortable swimming in any depth of water, but you never learned how to perform all the strokes so you could swim for fitness.

Our Suggestion: A combination of swimming lessons and aquatic fitness training, which would simultaneously teach you how to perform the fitness strokes more efficiently as well as teach you how to convert that knowledge into an effective workout.

  • The Veteran: You are already highly proficient in the strokes, but you'd like to take your fitness to a whole new level. Maybe you are training for a triathlon or you have an injury that prevents you from doing your usual dryland workout, but you don't know how to train in the pool.

Our Suggestion: A kind of personal training approach, in which your instructor would create a workout each session and guide you through it, coaching you in technique along the way. They would also be coaching you on the proper components of a swimming workout, so you could eventually create your own program after the adult swimming lessons end.

  • The Aquatic Fitness Buff: You never swam, and you probably never will, but you know that aquatic exercise has tremendous benefits on your health and is very low-impact. You want to use your pool to exercise, but you're clueless about how to start.

Our Suggestion: A kind of "water aerobics" approach, in which the instructor leads you through a series of movements and exercises that don't require actual swimming. You would learn to eventually create your own program and how to incorporate all the elements of a good workout.

  • If you are confused and have any questions about which kind of program would be best for you, simply contact us and we will be happy to help.

The above examples are simply illustrations of how varied our programs can be, but each one will be customized to fit your needs.

Our instructor was encouraging, knowledgeable and persistent. She got my granddaughter to try things I was amazed at. She is certainly an exceptional swimming instructor, especially for children.”
